Need to free up your Library borrowing quota fast? The Libraries has recently installed an Automated Book Drop at the Lui Che Woo Law Library, at Cheng Yu Tung Tower. Books returned through this new book drop will be automatically checked in and updated in the user’s library account in real time, even when the library is closed. The system, to be soft launched on 28 October, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Drop by with your books and items and try it out!
The Library will re-open its second floor on Saturday, 28 July. Due to delays in the installation of our new compact storage system on the second floor, only the primary materials collection there will be available. Journals, Reference, Chinese books, Audio-visual materials, and the UN Depository collection, which are to be housed in the compact storage area, will not be available until after 3 August. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.
In the meantime, these library collections are available:
1/F: Textbooks, Reserve, Requested items
2/F: Primary materials (from 28 July)
You may drop by the circulation counter at the Law Library every day to borrow and return books, but did you know that we actually provide more than just check-in/out service? Here are the additional services and facilities currently provided at the circulation counter:
Basic Stationery Items Provision
Customer Appreciation/Feedback Collection
Face Mask Provision
First Aid Box Facility
Lost and Found Service
Power Extension Cord Lending
Sanitizing Gel/Spray Provision
The intercom is located next to the lift on the 2/F
From now on, you don’t need to run up and down the floors to report problems you find on the 2/F. Whether it is about the printer, the photocopiers, or the air-conditioning, simply pick up the handset, no need to dial, and it will connect you to staff in the office who will be able to help. Please detail the problems through the intercom, and library staff will come immediately to help.
Starting from 2 January 2010, the following areas in the Law Library will be designated as SILENT ZONE areas:
Kindly observe the following rules while you are in a SILENT ZONE:
- Absolutely no talking
- Individual study only
- No mobile phone conversations
Thank you for your cooperation.
